The Millsaps Majors football team opened their season waiting on the beautiful new field turf to be installed. Starting their season with a win on the road in the annual Backyard Brawl, the Majors gave their fans a glimpse of what to expect. The Majors are now entering the last stage of the season, and the win-loss record of 7-0 looks as perfect as their newly installed turf. Wins over former SCAC rival Trinity in San Antonio and avenging last season’s loss over Birmingham-Southern have been high points.

Junior running back Joe Marquez said going undefeated would provide a “sense of accomplishment to the team; we worked really hard in the off-season to build on last year’s season. Every guy on the team has put in the time and effort so it would mean that hard work really does pay off.” Marquez noted that the wins over Trinity and BSC were huge. “We have struggled against those two teams in the past few seasons. I think it shows our determination to win and that this team has gotten better.”

The Majors are currently tied atop the conference with Rhodes at 3-0. This week’s Homecoming game will give the Majors their first action on Harper Davis Field in four weeks. The Majors have worked hard and are aiming to keep their perfect record intact. Kickoff versus the Berry Vikings is Saturday at 1 p.m.
