Concerts You Don’t Want To Miss: Upcoming Shows in Jackson

With venues like Duling Hall and Thalia Mara Hall, Jackson makes for the perfect city for concerts. Throughout the year, Jackson hosts various musicians and performances ranging from local bands like The Weeks and Dream Cult to big names like Shawn Mendes and Florida Georgia Line, as well as up-and-coming bands like Rainbow Kitten Surprise.  In the next few months, Jackson will be home to many great concerts that you definitely won’t want to miss. 

Breaking Benjamin 

Only a 20 minute drive away, Breaking Benjamin will be performing at City Hall Live in Brandon on October 12. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show starts at 8 p.m. With their most popular song “Diary of Jane,” Breaking Benjamin has a huge fan base, and this concert will be exhilarating. Tickets are $33. 

Plain White T’s 

On October 11, the Plain White T’s will grace Jackson with a concert at the Mississippi State Fair. Most known for their late 2000s hits “Hey There Delilah” and “Our Time Now,” the Plain White T’s will play a free concert (with fair admission) on the state fairgrounds. The band also released a song earlier this year, “Land of the Living,” which is catchy and rhythmic like their old music, yet also more modern and indie.  

Maren Morris 

Up-and-coming country artist Maren Morris will perform at City Hall Live in Brandon on October 19. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show starts at 8 p.m. with opener Ryan Hurd. The 27-year-old musician released her first album in 2015, and since then she has gained traction from her new album “HERO.” With the radio hit “80’s Mercedes,” this concert will be fun for any music lover. General admission tickets are $23. 

Dawes 

On October 24, Duling Hall will host An Evening with Dawes. Since the release of their first album in 2009, Dawes has continued to gain a huge fan base with their indie feel-good tracks like “Things Happen.” Doors open at 7 p.m., and Dawes comes on stage at 8 p.m. Tickets are $30 before the show and $35 at the door. 

Ben Folds 

On November 7, Ben Folds will play at the Jackson Prep School Fortenberry Theatre in Flowood. With hits like “Annie Waits” and “You Don’t Know Me,” this stop on Folds’ Paper Airplane Request Tour is one you won’t want to miss. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. Folds’ opener is Tall Heights, and tickets start at $40.50.   

The Molly Ringwalds 

The Molly Ringwalds will be at Duling Hall on November 22. The band from Sheffield, England will start the show at 9 p.m., but their doors will be open at 7 p.m. Known for their fantastic covers of popular 80’s hits, The Molly Ringwalds have an incredible and entertaining stage presence. The band also frequently plays at Millsaps, so you don’t want to miss this! Tickets are $25 before the show and $30 at the door.
