Is Fenty Beauty a Hit or Miss?

If you guys know me, you know that there’s one thing that I absolutely love: makeup. Now, not by any means am I a makeup guru or anything, but I do get excited whenever new products come out. I like practicing looks and taking selfies. That’s probably lame, but don’t judge me.

When word got out that Rihanna was releasing a makeup brand that included over 40 shades, an all-inclusive shade of lip gloss, and several other products, I knew I had to have it. I remember being in my room  and rushing back to Jackson to try to get the products before they sold out.

I went in Sephora, the only place that sells Fenty at the moment, and got a mini makeover in all things Fenty. I expected it to be like a Black Friday sale, with people fighting over the makeup, but it was actually really chill. Everything was still in stock, and I ended up purchasing the foundation, match stix trio, and two tubes of lip gloss.

I noticed a few things about each of the products. All of the packaging is classy and simple, and the products are reasonably priced.

Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation

When I tried the foundation on in the store, it seemed perfect. The woman in Sephora said it would be perfect for people with oily skin. However, when I actually applied it myself, I noticed the foundation was very runny compared to other foundations I’ve used. It also took more to receive full coverage. I had to put on about 2 coats. I’d give it a 7 out of 10.

Match Stix Trio

The trio of concealer, contour, and highlighter was amazing. It’s easy to apply, easy to blend, and the actual “stix” are magnetized, so they stick together when you’re not using them. This was my first time using cream makeup products, so I used a beauty blender. They basically melted into my face. I definitely plan on purchasing more.  9 out of 10.

Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer

My overall favorite product was the lip gloss. I think I’ve worn it almost every day since buying it. It goes with any makeup look you can think of, and it smells like starbursts…so, what’s there to complain about? I definitely give it a 10 out of 10.

Since her initial release, Rihanna has added more products to her line. They’re all galaxy themed, and they include lipsticks, eyeshadow palettes and lots of glitter. I definitely want to add to my Fenty Beauty collection, but being the broke college student that I am, that will probably take a while.
