This week, The Purple and White sat down with Bri’Anna Tolliver, a native of Vidalia, Louisiana. Not only is she involved in the Wellspring program, but she balances two on-campus jobs. Tolliver is a freshman and plans to major in nursing.

The Purple and White: What’s the last book you read?

Bri’Anna Tolliver: The Help.

P&W: That’s definitely a good one. What’s the most embarrassing thing you’ve ever done?

BT: I fell asleep in class one time and the kids woke me up because I was talking in my sleep. That was the last time I ever went to sleep in class.

P&W: I can only imagine! That sounds mortifying. Okay, so what do you do in your free time?

BT: Sleep, watch Netflix, study and read my Bible or Joel Osteen book

P&W: And what are your future goals?

BT: I want to be a nurse practitioner and own my own practice one day.

P&W: What are some words of wisdom you’d give others to live by?

BT: Always remember God gives the hardest battles to His toughest soldiers. The harder it gets, just know that God knows you can overcome it. Keep pushing.

P&W: I couldn’t agree more. What is something your family would say about you?

BT: My family would say that I am very ambitious, goal-oriented, smart and that I love Christ.

P&W: What made you come to Millsaps?

BT: I came to Millsaps because I was intrigued by the small classroom sizes and the peaceful campus.

P&W: Those characteristics of the campus reeled me in, as well. What is your favorite class so far?

BT: My favorite classes are ventures and elementary functions. They teach me how to think about things in a deeper way and I love that.

P&W: Lastly, if you could meet one person from the past or present, who would it be?

BT: I would love to meet Joel Osteen. He is my role model. I buy his books and audio messages and I watch his program every Sunday. One day I want to move to Texas to be closer to his church. He is the best man that I never met.

The Purple and White would like to thank Bri’Anna for taking the time out of her busy day to answer these questions! If you or someone you know would like to be featured in the next “Meet the Millsapian” article, you can email me at clevecd@millsaps.edu.
