As most of us already know, our Majors, led by Head Coach Jim Page, were SAA champions in 2013. The team even earned a trip to the Division III World Series for the first time in school history. Following the most successful baseball season Millsaps has ever seen, this year’s team hopes to not only repeat past successes, but also to improve on them.
“Last year we were able to accomplish many team goals and go where no team before us was able to go,” senior leader Blake Littlejohn says, “Although we lost a lot with the graduating class, we have a lot of potential this year, and we expect a lot of young guys to step up and contribute. Our main focus this season is to win the last game. I think it’s a common belief of all the players that we need everyone to step up and do their jobs, no matter what it is.”
As the team nears its first game against Randolph-Macon, which it plays Feb. 7, the Majors are preparing to play their best and be as mentally tough as possible. The Majors have a long road ahead of them, but they are working hard to make a run, and hope the school comes out to the first home game against Belhaven on Feb. 11th at 4:00.
