After the holiday hiatus, winter television is back in full swing, with fall shows returning and new series about to premiere. Here is what you should be watching on your study breaks.
How I Met Your Mother
Mondays, 7 p.m., CBS
The final season is about to come to a close, with the hour-long series finale March 31. For faithful fans like myself, this season has provided more answers to long-running questions than I could have imagined, such as Barney’s job title and the name of Ted’s kids (I won’t spoil, I promise). Tune in for the second half of the season to see more slaps, more of the long-awaited Mother, and Robin and Barney’s impending wedding.
Sherlock
Sundays, 8 p.m., PBS.
The incredible British series is back after two years for its third season, consisting of three 90 minute episodes. If you haven’t already, catch up on Netflix and be prepared for another epic cliffhanger on Sunday, Feb. 2, in the final episode of the season. Those who are interested in a modern Sherlock Holmes with flawless characterization, dialogue, and more twists and turns than conceivable should watch.
House of Cards
Available for streaming on Netflix Feb. 14
If binge-watching is your true love, spend this Valentine’s day on Netflix with season two of House of Cards. The second season of this Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning show will be uploaded all at once, for the viewing pleasure of all with access to Netflix. For those with a love for political intrigue, this is the show for you.
The Walking Dead
Sun. at 8 p.m. on AMC
The hugely popular drama based on a graphic novel series returns for the second half of its fourth season Feb. 9. This post-apocalyptic story of a deputy and his band of survivors fighting zombies and other survivors is not to be missed. If you enjoy the drama of people struggling for life with a side of zombie violence, please enjoy.
