Marlo Hill is a sophomore psychology major and member of the Millsaps football team. In his free time, he likes playing sports and hanging out with his friends.

The Purple and White: What made you come to Millsaps?

Marlo Hill: It gave me a chance to play football, and it’s a pretty great school. It’s the top school in Mississippi. They told us that you’re guaranteed to get a good job after you graduate, so that really got my attention.

P&W: What’s your favorite part of the campus?

MH: It’s a very small campus, so everyone pretty much knows each other, and everyone gets along on campus. There’s never really any fights, everyone is just here to get an education.

P&W: Are there any changes you would make to Millsaps?

MH: Maybe better residence halls for freshmen. I feel like Ezelle and Bacot are pretty much old and you hear students complaining about them. I feel like it costs too much money to hear things like that.

P&W: What are your future goals?

MH: I want to graduate from Millsaps, and I want to have a great job. I don’t really know what I want to do, but I know I want to be in the medical field. I also want to be able to come back to this campus in the future and think about all the memories that happened here.

P&W: What is your strongest personal quality?

MH: I’m very friendly. I guess that’s how I get along with a lot of people here. I’ve made friendships with a few people.

P&W: If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?

MH: If I could travel anywhere… Maybe Spain…Madrid. I’ve heard a lot of great things about the place, and that’s a place I’ve always wanted to visit.

P&W: What would you do while you were there?

MH: I want to be able to go to one of the soccer games. I’d like to see Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo play. I play FIFA all the time, and that’s one of the three teams I always pick; I’ve been playing for eight or nine years. I’ve always heard about the soccer games and how the environment is so nice.

P&W: What’s something embarrassing/funny that your family would say about you?

MH: I’m scared of the sound of balloons. I just can’t stand seeing balloons. The sound of them popping just bothers me. At my birthday parties, I used to leave early so I wouldn’t have to hear them popping. But I don’t think they’d tell anybody that…

P&W: If you won the lottery, what would you do with the earnings?

MH: I would probably start my own business, so I could keep getting money out of it instead of just blowing it all off and ending up broke like most people do. I feel like if I win a lot of money, I should keep it and gain something out of it.

P&W: What do you plan to do over Thanksgiving break?

MH: I’m probably going to Nashville to spend time with my family there. I’ve already spent a lot of time with my Mississippi family because they come to a lot of my football games. So I’m going to see them while I can.

P&W: What’s the last thing you did for fun?

MH: I’d say the last week of football… just being with the seniors. We were just joking around about the whole season. It was nice looking back on the memories. It was one of the best teams I’ve played on. Everyone was really close. It was crazy how it all ended this year.
