This year’s Homecoming football game will take place Saturday, Oct. 25, when the Majors take on the Sewanee Tigers. Currently, the Majors hold a 1-3 record a week ahead of the military appreciation game against Birmingham Southern. Sewanee, having played a couple more games than Millsaps, holds a 1-5 record. In order to make a run for the Southern Athletic Association championship this season, the Majors must defeat the Tigers. 

The first home game of the year saw a record crowd, thanks in part to the newly opened Lucky Town Beer Garden. Hopefully, the Homecoming game will be even more exciting, with friends, family, and alumni converging on campus from all over the country to watch the Majors and reunite with their classmates.

As usual, the game isn’t the only exciting part of Homecoming week. At 8 a.m. on Saturday, the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity will hold its annual 5K Run/Walk, with proceeds benefiting the Don Fortenberry Endowed Scholarship Fund. From 9:30 to 11 a.m., “Tasting at the Tents” will take place in the bowl. Greek organizations and other student groups will set up tents and cook food for everyone to try. From 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., fraternities and sororities will hold open houses, so alumni can reunite and visit with their brothers and sisters. The new Kappa Sigma house will also be dedicated at this time. Finally, starting around 11 a.m., tailgates will take shape behind the end zone, and pre-game festivities will begin.

It is sure to be an exciting weekend, and the must-win nature of the game makes it even more special. The Majors will fight for a much needed victory against the Tigers at noon on Saturday.
