This week’s Millsapian is Tyler McGee, a junior biology major from Kosciusko, Miss. He is a member of Kappa Alpha Order, and he serves as IFC President and as a Foundations Director.  

The Purple and White: What made you come to Millsaps? 

Tyler McGee: I originally came to Millsaps to play for the football team, but a season-ending injury changed that pretty quick. 

P&W: What do you plan to do after graduating Millsaps? 

TM: I am taking my MCAT in May with hopes of applying and getting accepted to a medical school to start my track on becoming a physician. 

P&W: What legacy do you hope to leave behind on campus?  

TM: I want to leave a legacy behind that lasts far beyond my time here. I want to make sure that I leave whatever I get involved in better off than when I found it. 

P&W: What one thing do you like most about yourself? 

TM: I like that I have a really strong work ethic. If I struggle with understanding something, I won’t stop working until I grasp the concept.  

P&W: Tell me an embarrassing story about yourself. 

TM: Just the other day I was walking across Galloway lawn after it had rained. As I went down a hill, I lost my footing and almost slipped and fell. When I caught my footing again, I looked up to see someone watching. 

P&W: What do you hope to check off your “bucket list” in the next year? 

TM: Hopefully getting into medical school.  

P&W: What has been your high and low of your week? 

TM: The high of last week was that payday was on Friday. The low had to be that it was just a really busy week with not much downtime. 

P&W: What’s one thing you miss about being a child? 

TM: I miss feeling like I didn’t have a care in the world—and also nap time. Kindergarteners just don’t know how good they have it. 

P&W: What is the best piece of advice you’ve received? 

TM: Always do everything to the best of your ability, and always be your true authentic self. 

P&W: What are you looking forward to doing over spring break? 

TM: I don’t have huge plans over the break other than attending SROW (Southern Regional Orientation Workshop). I’ll probably just enjoy not having to worry about class for a few days.
