After many line-up changes due to numerous players leaving the team and a rigorous fall ball season followed by a round of intense early spring practices, the Majors lacrosse team looks forward to starting its 2014 season. The team’s schedule promises great competition preparing them for conference games beginning March 8.

“We are really aiming for a winning season,” says Scott Tafoya, sophomore defenseman and long stick midfielder, “We have a good team and a lot of seniors, so I feel like this could be our year.” Tafoya emphasizes the importance of a crowd, and particularly encourages students to attend the games against Birmingham Southern, Sewanee, Berry and Rhodes.

“Our team just needs to keep doing what we’ve been doing, constantly improving,” says Adam Shubert. “We’ve only gotten better and better since the team was founded, so why would we stop now?” he asked with a confident grin.

With a positive attitude and a diligent work ethic, the team will certainly accomplish its goals this year. Their first home game is Feb. 15 against Fontbonne, and will be a great opportunity for students to show their support for the men’s lacrosse team.
